Q: What do I need to know and what things do I need to bring with me for my short term visit to BCM in Peru?
A: Clothing-Lima has a fairly temperate climate, but it's always a good idea to bring sweatshirts for cool evenings. Check the Peru Profile page for an idea of current climate. In winter months (June-Sep) you'll want to bring warmer clothing as it can get quite chilly.

Customs-Bring a current passport that won't expire while you're here. Check with your contact here for current visa protocol. Peru will usually issue a 30-day tourist visa without problems.

Misc.-Sun block and bug repellant are good to bring especially in summer months. Bring your Spanish dictionary and if you have a chance, brush up on a few Spanish phrases before you come.

Download this PDF file for a short version of our visitor's guide. This guide has some great cultural tips, Spanish phrases, and things that will help you prepare for, before your trip down. If you will also be visiting other places in Peru, talk with Marion Odicio or your contact here regarding other things to consider.

Q: What ministries does BCM Peru have and how do they work?
A: BCM Peru is comprised of many ministries primarily aimed at children. The team of national missionaries here at BCM Peru head up the various ministries in cooperation with local churches and volunteers as well as the IBYM (Bible Institute) students. To view all our ministries and find out their purpose and how they work, click here.

Q: Can I ship a package to BCM in Peru?
A: The best way to ship something to us is to keep it under 2.5 pounds and to put it in a mailing envelope (any size) that can be delivered directly to the mailbox. Just about any item is okay to send that way. Check out our Contact Us page for an address. (Keep in mind there is always a risk in sending things to South America). Heavier items mailed in a box have to go through customs inspection and there is a long list of things that are heavily taxed or confiscated, so it is best to avoid that as we may not receive them at all! For bigger or heavier items, contact us and we can make arrangements for someone visiting from the States or another country to bring things for us.
